• Headlining Jelling Musikfestival

    January 9, 2020

    On January 9 it is announced that in their only Danish performance in 2020, Duran Duran will return to Scandinavia to headline the iconic Jelling Musikfestival on Saturday, the 30th of May. Later in the month the band confirm a headlining spot at Rock in Rio Lisboa.Both of these shows are postponed due to the Corona Virus.


    PBS (US/Canada Public Broadcasting Station) air Duran Duran’s 2011 live concert film A DIAMOND IN THE MIND for their March pledge drive. New interviews with Simon & Nick, recorded at the end of 2019, are used throughout the programming.

  • Headlining BST Hyde Park

    On March 10, Duran Duran is announced at the final headliner for the BST Hyde Park on 12 July. Both Gwen Stefani and Nile Rodgers & Chic will be on the bill with others expected to be added.Duran Duran 2020 spring/ summer dates are as follows:

    June 27, Rock in Rio, Lisbon, Portugal

    July 12, British Summertime Festival, Hyde Park, London, UK

    All of these shows are postponed or cancelled due to the Corona Virus.

  • A DIAMOND IN THE MIND limited-edition vinyl

    It is announced that Duran Duran’s A DIAMOND IN THE MIND will be released as a limited edition Pink (transparent) Double LP Gatefold, including Bonus-Track “Is There Something I Should Know?” for Record Store Day Germany in June.

  • Coronavirus hiatus announced

    March 19, 2020

    On March 19 Duran Duran announce they had to take a break from recording their 15th studio album because of the Coronavirus pandemic, which made them unable to go in to the Studio. The band started a weekly Twitter chat with fans, with Simon on March 20Roger on March 27Nick on April 3 and John on April 10.

  • Isle of Wright Festival postponed

    March 24, 2020

    On March 24, the Isle of Wright Festival postpones their Festival, which was meant to take place June 11-14, with Duran Duran headlining the Sunday evening bill. On April 1, Duran Duran announce the postponement of their two Las Vegas dates, meant for the beginning of May, and on April 4, Rock in Rio Lisboa postpone their festival for one year. On April 6 the Jelling MusikFestival announce their postponement. BST Hyde Park follows suit on April 8.

  • John Taylor contracts Covid-19

    April 5, 2020

    On April 5, John Taylor posts a note on the band’s social media channels that he tested positive for Covid-19 but wanted fans to know that the illness “isn’t always a killer, and we can and will beat this thing.”

    On April 20, Nick pays tribute to wildlife photographer Peter Beard: “I’m sad to hear that Peter Beard has left our world. He was truly one of life’s great adventurers, curious and fearless to the end. He seized every moment and and devoured it with intense joy. His energy and profound belief in natural beauty and art was an inspiration.”

  • WHOOOSH! begins

    April 21, 2020

    On April 21, Simon and Katy record their first weekly radio show called WHOOOSH! on Duran Duran Radio. Simon chooses the songs and the pair discuss his choices and more. There is also a Spotify playlist with all the songs they play on the Radio show.

    Nick made a 2.5 hour appearance with Italy’s famed DJ Red Ronnie for his first live interview on social media on May 4. It aired on Ronnie’s Facebook and YouTube channels, and fans had a great time participating with Nick.

    Nick writes a tribute to Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk when news of his passing was made public on May 6. He was a hero of Nick’s, both as a musician and a performer.

  • John shows "Planet Earth" process

    On May 7, John debuts Stone Love Bass Odyssey tutorial, showing fans how the band put together the track “Planet Earth.” After the first episode debuted, John and Chromeo’s Dave 1 did a LIVE Instagram chat together. Other guests have included Susanna Hoffs (The Bangles), Mark Ronson, Nile Rodgers & Billy Idol.

    On May 12, the band post a live version of their song, “Ordinary World” on their website; the song was recorded in September, 2017 at a show in Tokyo, Japan.

    On December 1, the band post a video which shows off a new book, THE COLLAPSING SYMPHONY, limited to 500 COPIES. The book features Nick’s archives and surrealistic collages by Rory McCartney, available exclusively in the Duran Duran web store.

  • "Ordinary World" charity cover released

    In December, singer Kitty Coburn and the Creative Collective release a cover of Duran Duran’s “Ordinary World.” Proceeds will go to the Royal Free charity which works alongside the three hospitals in the Royal Free London NHS Trust to provide services for people across north London.
