Duran Duran’s 14th studio album, Paper Gods, is just around the corner (September 11 to be exact) — and judging by the previously released tunes, it will be a definite must-listen come Fall. The latest to be unveiled is the LP’s title track, which is a collaboration with fellow UK artist Mr Hudson.
The song is a seven-minute long adventure that features blippy synths, sharp guitar riffs and bold vocal tones that amplify the track’s more serious lyrical tone: “Bleeding from paper cuts/ Money for headshots/ Fools leading, who needs it.”
Frontman Simon Le Bon states “Paper Gods” is their most angriest tune on the record, explaining “It’s a song about our obsession, with money, with material things, and how we trivialize our lives, and humanity.”
