Hi Katy, This question has come to my mind many, many times over the last twenty years and I'm dying to know the answer. When Duran Duran went into the studio to record Is There Something I Should Know, what was the intent? Where they starting to record for Seven and The Ragged Tiger? Or did they simply decide that they had a great idea between
albums and wanted to put out a single? Where they expecting ITSISK to go on Seven and The Ragged Tiger? And lastly, why did EMI package the single with their first album in America? Stylistically, the album and the single don't seem to be related...Thanks and looking forward to the tour and new album, Brian
THIS IS WHAT THE GUYS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT: IT WAS AN INTERESTING EXERCISE IN TRYING TO WRITE A HIT SINGLE. WE WERE IN BETWEEN PROJECTS BUT NEEDED TO PUT A NEW TRACK OUT SO, IN THAT SENSE, IT WAS NEVER INTENDED TO BE PART OF THE A NEW ALBUM. WE ALWAYS PREFER COHESIVE RECORDS THAT PROVIDE A COMPLETE LISTENING EXPERIENCE. HENCE, IS THERE SOMETHING I SHOULD KNOW DID NOT SEEM TO FIT ON THE THIRD ALBUM.
SO, IT IS NO SURPRISE THAT WE ALSO AGREE IT IS COMPLETELY INCONGROUS WHEN ADDED TO THE FIRST ALBUM.
