10 Philly Concerts We Absolutely Can’t Wait for in 2016
Posted on January 13, 2016 by Patrick DeMarco
Let’s face it, the Philly struggle can certainly feel pretty real sometimes. But one subject the City of Brotherly Love always thrives in is when it comes to spilling tea about its rich music background. In a word, Philly’s the sh#t when it comes to its music history and what it’s accomplished over the decades for the industry. In fact, that’s just one of the reasons why last year Vivid Seats named Philly the Best Music City in North America. And boy, have we earned it.

From The Roots, Will Smith, the famed Sigma Sound Studios, the recording of David Bowie’s ‘Young Americans,’ to all those disco hits and to the fact that up-and-coming Philly venues like The Fillmore, The Foundry, Coda Philly and Franky Bradley‘s, as well as underrated treasures like Boot & Saddle and The Dolphin Tavern, are staying miles ahead of the game by showcasing some truly incredible local and legendary talent. At the end of the local grooves, there’s no need to argue (take a seat, New York, this one’s ours) that Philly is well deserving of this esteemed honor.

But now the real question arises, will we own it for a second year in a row? Judging from the explosive roster of A-list music talent that’s already booked and on their way to our great city, it certainly looks and sounds that way. Let your doubts (because, sigh, Philly..) fade away and dive into these 10 Philly concerts that will most likely play a big part in the city keeping its title of being the Best Music City in North America in 2016 and (hopefully) beyond.

Duran Duran/July 21st As evident in their 2015 album, Paper Gods, Duran Duran still wants to make you dance. This will also be the case once their accompanying tour boogies its way onto the waterfront this summer. If you haven’t gotten a chance to check out their latest studio offering, you’re missing out on a truly strobe-lit good time. Get lost in Duran Duran’s latest set, which will give you plenty of time to shake your groove thing until July. BB&T Pavillion. Tickets
