Just two UK gigs for Duran Duran

Duran Duran will play just two gigs this summer

Duran Duran have announced they will only be performing two concerts in the UK this year.
The pop heavyweights said they are looking forward to headlining the Lovebox Weekender in London and performing a one-off gig at Edinburgh Castle in July.

Nick Rhodes said: "We actually had decided not to do any shows at all this year and then we got a call from the Lovebox people who said 'well would you like to headline?'"

He continued: "We thought about it for a minute and said yes. We like Groove Armada very much and this year's a terrific line-up so it was appealing.

"For us Lovebox is the perfect match, because it's a bit more electronic and right in the middle of London in one of the most beautiful parks.

"We're only doing a couple of shows in Britain, the Lovebox show and Edinburgh Castle, which also again was quite an unusual one, such a beautiful venue so we're really looking forward to both of them."

Drummer Roger Taylor added: "It is a very urban line-up you know it's very London, it's very cool and we thought it would be good for us."

The eighties group are playing Edinburgh on July 16 and the main stage of The Lovebox Weekender on Saturday 18 July. Groove Armada are set to headline on Sunday 19.

It is the seventh annual Lovebox festival and other acts include N*E*R*D, Doves and New York Dolls.
The tickets are £42.50 for a day ticket and £75 for a weekend ticket.
