Stage Swap

Ask Katy

Hi Katy, A question for the band: Have you guys considered changing way you set up on stage? I notice that nick always sets up on the right side of the stage, behind Andy. John is always on the left...has there ever been a time when the set up was different? Is this personal preference, or is this a logistically sound decision? Maybe Nick can get closer to the audience? Nick is so far away! or John and Andy can switch sides with each other? Just curious. Thanks, Frances

THIS SET UP HAS BEEN TRADITIONALLY THE SAME FOR THE ORIGINAL 5 PIECE BAND SINCE THE BEGINNING. IT SEEMS TO BE THE MOST BALANCED BECAUSE OF THE SYMETRY OF HAVING ONE GUITAR ON EITHER SIDE OF THE STAGE. NICK AND ROGER COULD ACTUALLY SWAP POSITIONS BUT IT MAKES MORE SENSE MUSICALLY FOR ROGER AND JOHN TO BE CLOSE TOGETHER AS THE RYTHYM SECTION. IN OTHER LINE UPS OF THE BAND, NICK DID MOVE AROUND TO VARIOUS POSITIONS ON THE STAGE.”
