Duran Duran meet the Current Fab Five with explosive results

3 stars

Long before Carson, Thom, Ted, Jai and Kyan came along to teach straight American men about the evils of nose hair, Duran Duran were proclaimed "the Fab Five" on the cover of this magazine in 1983. So it makes sense that the QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY soundtrack presents "Sunrise" the first song from the original Duran Duran lineup since "A View to a Kill." It's a beautiful thing: One Fab Five meets another for ten-way disco-rock action. The soundtrack also has goodies from Basement Jaxx, Junior Senior, Kylie Minogue and Sting; a mix of Fischerspooner's "Emerge" mashed up with Billy Squier's arena-rock anthem "Everybody Wants You"; and Elton John's "Are You Ready For Love," a 1977 nugget salvaged from one of Elton's worst records ever. Nice work gentlemen. Now, Kyan - how about some work on Squier's hair?
