roxy cover

This question is for Simon, Nick or John. It has been widely reported that Roxy Music had a major influence on Duran Duran and that John is a big fan of the band. To be sure, there are some (very positive) parallels between both of the bands' work. My question: why did the band decide to not cover any Roxy Music material on the Thank You album as a sort of homage to Bryan Ferry et al? Thanks in advance! Raj Dayalan

"We did actually consider several Roxy Music songs - "Mother of Pearl" was way up there on the list, but I seem to remember we decided not to touch that one in the end. As close as we got was playing a few bars of "Virginia Plain" at a show in London some years ago, segueing from the line "Going down to RIO" in to the song RIO. NR"
