End of February – Updated

As we come to the end of February, the guys have gone back in to the studio in South London for what they think will probably be their final week of writing for the new album.  Last week, they put the finishing touches to an amazing new song called "What Happens Tomorrow" that they are really excited about.  Written in their own studio, when John was last over in the UK (one of three new tracks that they penned that week), the song was cut in part in North London – at a small drum studio – where Roger was able to test out a myriad of different bits of gear to create some really great sounds.  Simon is particularly impressed:

" Hi we've just written a new song and it was worth waiting for.....indeed.There is a feeling in the camp that it is the best thing we've done so far.Well, I guess we'll see. It's called "What Happens Tomorrow" (and it's meant to be without a questionmark).s "

Then this past Friday the band convened early in the morning, in London, for a photo shoot with Irish photographer Richard Haughton at Sketch (on Conduit Street) - which is by all accounts one of the most spectacular locations in London – and currently the hottest eatery/club/exhibition space in town.  A selection of shots from these sessions should be up on the site within the next  couple of weeks.  All the band would reveal from the shoot, in the meantime, was that two set-ups from the day were done in the very outrageous bathrooms at the venue!

On Monday, Simon attended the first of his Ivor Novello Awards meetings, where he’s participating as a judge (see earlier NEWS item).  As mentioned before, this is one of the more prestigious Awards shows – honouring songwriters from the past year.  Simon, who has been sworn to secrecy regarding the nominations, remained tight-lipped on the subject, but said that he’d had a great time catching up with some of the other judges.

And finally, our favourite movie buff, Nick, caught the BAFTA's and was quite pleased with the results!
