I'm an avid fan of John's approach to bass playing and because of that, took up the instrument about nineteen years ago and subsequently learned all his lines. I also have a bass signed by him but sadly wasn't able to meet him when it was done. I was wondering if it is a common thing for him to hear...that his fans have adopted his style of playing and learned his lines. He has, in fact, been a very affecting absentee mentor.
