Seems like everyone is getting in the cover spirit for a Duran Duran song. First up are Lostprophets from the UK, who have recorded "A View to a Kill" as a BSide. They also took their band name from a Duran Duran bootleg album. Catch Lostprophets on Ozzfest this summer.
Thanks to Lars, we have found out about another "Ordinary World" cover, this time done by Saybia. The song is part of a compilation, and was released on March 21st to mark the date of the anniversary of the massacre in Sharpeville, South Africa, when the police killed 69 people during a peaceful demonstration against the apartheid law on identity cards. The CD is called 'Reminder' and your best bet for getting a copy is to track it down via Sony Music Denmark.
There is a CD tentatively titled "When Pigs Fly: Songs You Thought You'd Never Hear" scheduled to come out in the next few months. Tracks include Ani DiFranco and Jackie Chan dueting on Nat King Cole's "Unforgettable," Oakridge Boys covering "Carry on my Wayward Son" by Kansas and Billy Preston - legendary keyboard sideman, considered the 5th Beatle - taking on "Girl's on Film." And finally, Backstreet Boys are going to re-work "Cracks in the Pavement" for their upcoming CD. OK, that last one was an April Fool's Joke....ha ha ha.
