*@#%! I really don't want to be explaining lyrics for the rest of my life. Of course I am flattered by and understand the interest, I really do.
However, the point is that these songs/lyrics stand up on their own, they themselves are the statements that I make. As a reader/audience YOU are supposed to interpret the words yourselves or even analyze them; go on, write books about them if you like, that's what people do with poets isn't it? They don't phone them up saying e.g.. "Excuse me Ms. Smith [OK, she's dead] but what's that 'Not Waving but Drowning' poem all about?".

I guess what I mean is that it's what the words mean to you that's important, how YOU in your life identify with these words; not what mundane occurrences inspired them in the first place - you'd only be disappointed if you knew anyway.
