Hungry Like the Wolf

Say what you want about Duran Duran, their appeal has a way of jumping through genre and generation. Many a rock, grunge and country band has covered the smooth “Rio.” My goth friend Phil recently extolled the virtues of the xylophone solo in “Last Chance on the Staircase.” And when “Hungry Like the Wolf’s” number comes up on the jukebox - no matter the country, crowd or age - everybody sings along. The band has shape-shifted through the years around a core of frontman Simon LeBon and keyboardist Nick Rhodes, but the nucleus is back now, except for the third guy with the surname Taylor (as in guitarist Andy). They’re at the Nokia Theatre on Sunday, May 4, for an 8 p.m. show, and sure, they’re cashing in.
