Formed in 1978, Duran Duran has been one of the most prolific bands to come out of Birmingham, England. With fourteen albums under their belt, the band has, for the most part, managed to stay together in their entirety, switching up some duties along the way. The evolution of synth-pop/new wave music is abundantly represented in the bands discography. With the release of last year’s Paper Gods, the band has embarked on an extensive tour in support of that new material. Sunday night’s set at the Smoothie King Center marked the first time the band has played in New Orleans, almost ten years ago. They last played at Voodoo, back in 2006. Sunday night show was a visual spectacle and the band tackled material from nine of their fourteen albums, concentrating on Paper Gods and both self-titled albums. As a true Jazz Fest surprise, Nile Rodgers came out and joined the band on a couple of tunes. You can see more pictures HERE.
