Duran Duran and Snow Patrol are lined up to perform at a concert to coincide with the start of the Olympic Games.

Musical acts from each of the four host nations will play at the gig in London's Hyde Park on July 27.

Duran Duran will represent England, Snow Patrol Northern Ireland, Stereophonics Wales and Paolo Nutini Scotland.

"Performing to so many people on the most exciting day in sport for Great Britain will be one of the highlights of the last decade for us," Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon said.

"We have been invited to represent England for this Team GB show, and we couldn't be more proud.

"Seeing the torch being lit on the big screens before hitting the stage in this iconic location will be a great experience… We simply can't wait."

People attending the concert will be able to watch the London 2012 opening ceremony broadcast live on giant screens.

Tickets for the BT London Live celebration concert will go on sale to BT customers only on Thursday 3 May at 9am before going on general sale on Friday 4 May.

Another major outdoor concert to mark the closing ceremony of the Olympics will be held on August 12 with Blur as the main act.
