Book Nook: In the Pleasure Groove - Love, Death & Duran Duran, by John Taylor
By Vick Mickunas

Two years ago Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones published a memoir that became a huge best-seller. Now every time one looks there's another memoir or biography by or about a music star. Just in the past few months there have been books published by Neil Young, Rod Stewart, Pete Townsend, Kenny Rogers, Betty Lavette, and many more.

John Taylor is a founding member of the 1980's hitmakers Duran Duran. Their rise was meteoric, fueled by constant video airplay on the fledgling MTV network. "In the Pleasure Groove" takes readers inside the story of their phenomenal ascent to the top of the world music charts. We learn about the song writing process, the existence of musicians on tour, and the many temptations that come with success.

Somehow Taylor survived. This is one of the better rock memoirs to be issued this year.
