“No, No, Notorious.” The opening line of one of the most recognizable songs of the 1980s, instantly brings you back to the head band wearing, roller skating and Tab-drinking days. For Duran Duran‘s Notorious, you know exactly who it is within the first five notes of the song. It’s an album that is now 25 years old and as Notorious as it is, the album has clearly paved a path for today’s pop artists.
Everything that can be said about the group and album has already been said. Fans know how the band has transformed over the years. We know what worked and what didn’t. We know and love the songs that made the long road trips to grandmother’s house as a kid worth flipping through the FM dial to find a song that could ease the journey. Notorious has now been re-released; remastered in it’s original format with a bonus remixed CD and a DVD with live footage from the “Skin Trade” tour in Rio De Janeiro from 1987-88. Also included in the DVD are the videos from the album along with a live recording from the bands trip to Top of the Pops in 1986.
CD’s were a new and exciting format in the mid 1980’s when Notorious was first released. Getting a fresh remastered version of the hits is essential in the pop icons musical library. For a band such as Duran Duran, to have survived the ‘80s, powered through the “Alternative” ‘90’s, hide-out through the ‘2000’s and make a come back in their 4th decade of work, is simply amazing.
To make the three-disc package even more enticing EMI has thrown in a mini-poster and five photo cards of the group from 1986. [Did you know their name came from a character in Jane Fonda's Barbarella?"...Ed]

Big Thing, the 5th release by Duran Duran originally released in 1988, re-released in 1994 was remastered and re-re-released in a 2 CD and 1 DVD box set by EMI on September 27, 2010.
An early dance/house styled album, Big Thing moved Duran Duran away from their famously synthed-out pop styling into more of an experimental new wave and dance group. With all the shifts in band members, music styles and fashion faux-pas; the late 1980s had such an effect on Duran Duran they shortened their name for a spell to Duranduran.
Even though Big Thing didn’t have any chart-busting U.S. hits, it’s relevance in pop culture still holds. They were popular enough to get through what could have been a career ending decision to change their previously very successful style of music and head in a different direction altogether.
The real bonus in this package is the DVD of a concert from Milan, Italy in 1988. Not released to the public prior to the box set, the concert is now a greatest hits compilation. Rio, Girls On Film, Hungry Like The Wolf and many of the songs on Big Thing are included in the nearly 2 hours of captivating footage.
To make the Big Thing box set more exciting to have one of your own, EMI has included in a mini-poster and five photo cards of the group from 1988 to pin on the wall next to the vintage Teen Beat Magazine covers.
