JOHN:

Best Duran Duran Moment of 2011:

-Coachella was a great moment for us.
-Four UK Club dates were such important gigs. There was a feeling in the band that I'd not felt in a long time.
-The "Girl Panic!" video premiere.

Best Personal Moment:

Going to Paris with my daughter Atlanta when she represented England at the Crillon Ball in November. All the fathers got to do a waltz with their daughter, and it was a special moment for me.

World Events of 2011:

- Amy Winehouse's sad death.
- The Murdoch trial and subsequent fallout
- Arab and Egyptian uprisings.
- The rise of Manchester City (and no, I am not a big fan) and also, the rise of Napoli. I am happy that team is doing well.
- The success of "The Book of Mormon" on Broadway.

Album of 2011:

-Motown's MoWest Story Compilation - OUR LIVES ARE SHAPED BY WHAT WE ARE (didn't come out this year but one I listened to a lot)
-PJ Harvey's LET ENGLAND SHAKE
-Karen Elson THE GOST WHO WALKS
-Chromeo BUSINESS CASUAL
-John Maus WE MUST BECOME THE PITILESS CENSORS OF OURSELVES
-The Strokes ANGLES
-Traffic JOHN BARLEYCORN MUST DIE (didn't come out this year either)

Single of 2011:

Can't really pick a single, but the video for Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" was a favourite.

Favourite Movie of 2011:

I have two:

HANNA starring Saoirse Ronan, Eric Bana & Cate Blanchet.
SENNA, an excellent documentary on the Formula One race car driver.

I also saw EL CANTANTE with Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony and thought it was great (but it didn't come out this year).

Best Gig of 2011 (non DD):

I haven't had a chance to see as much live music as I would have liked this year because we were on tour, but these four shows stand out for me:

-The Strokes at Coachella
-PJ Harvey at Coachella
-Peter Gabriel in San Paulo
-Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band in San Paulo

Most looking forward to in 2012:

Finishing my book! It has been a great and challenging process so far, I am hoping it will be good. Also, looking forward to going to Australia, re-scheduling our shows in Italy and going to all the places we missed in 2011.
