Final preparations for Duran Duran’s Malta concert
by Annaliza Borg

Just five days ahead of Duran Duran’s performance at Luxol Parade Grounds, Pembroke on Saturday, preparations are going on at full swing.

Most equipment must be set before the arrival of the group, who will bring more equipment, to make the show in line with Duran Duran’s 2008 Red Carpet Massacre European Tour. The group has yet to perform in Naples tonight and in Reggio Calabria tomorrow before setting foot in Malta.

Well known for hits like Wild Boys, Rio, Come Undone, Save a Prayer and Girls on Film, the band is being brought to Malta by NnG Promotions, who have organised other such concerts, including those by Bryan Adams, Elton John, Claudio Baglioni and Roger Waters.

“The group will be on stage for over two hours performing their greatest hits,” NnG Promotions director Nigel Camilleri told this newspaper yesterday.

The concert will feature the band’s original line-up with Simon Le Bon, John Taylor, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor. Ira Losco and Tony Moore, an early member of Iron Maiden and formerly of Cutting Crew, will be supporting acts for Duran Duran.
