John Taylor, Juicy Couture, and Peavey Announce Liberator Series Instruments
Peavey has collaborated with John Taylor of Duran Duran and clothing designer Juicy Couture on the new Liberator Series guitar and bass. Designed with the attitude and aesthetic of Juicy Men and incorporating Peavey's innovative musical instrument designs, the Liberator Series J-84* bass and A-435* guitar unite fashion and function in a pair of artfully appointed instruments.
"I've been using Peavey basses on stage with Duran Duran for several years, and I love their products," said Taylor. "When we first talked about doing a signature model, I thought, 'Let's do it, but let's do it differently.' I'm a plug-and-play guy but I love fashion, so I knew that the energy for my signature model was going to go into the attitude and aesthetic presentation of the guitar. We chose woods and metals that best expressed my ideal instrument. I felt that the engineering Peavey would come up with was going to be good; that's one of the reasons why I love Peavey, because they're so beautifully consistent in taking me where I want to go. It was more a question of creating something that had a certain visual appeal."
The experiment was so successful that Peavey and John Taylor soon expanded the Liberator project beyond the J-84 bass -- which features two humbucking pickups and custom artwork in a truly comfortable rock bass -- to incorporate a matching six-stringed electric guitar, the A-435.
"The Peavey Liberator Series is my aesthetic," added Taylor. "It's a composite of who I am. I've been playing music for a long time, and these are my ultimate dream instruments."
The Liberator J-84 bass and A-435 guitar will be available in Q2 2007 from authorized Peavey retailers.
