Duran Duran video banned

The new Duran Duran video has been banned from U.K. television, it has been revealed.

The pop icons return with their long-awaited new material next month, in the shape of the album Red Carpet Massacre.

However, the promo film for the first single to be lifted from the record, "Falling Down," will not be screened in Britain after it was deemed too controversial.

The band's official spokesman has confirmed that Simon Le Bon and co have been forced to shoot a new "tamer" video, to ensure the song gets some promotion.

He explained: "Unfortunately the first video has been banned, so the tamer one will be aired instead."

Meanwhile, a Duran source explained: "The band are really disappointed that the video won't be seen because they believed it to be one of their finest yet. It's a shame because the film is stunning. It's very arty, dark, and deals with the whole celebrity culture of rehab."

Red Carpet Massacre is released on November 20.
