Radio marathon unites the stars

Stars of football, music, stage and screen are uniting in Birmingham for a 27-hour radiothon in aid of Asian tsunami victims.
Blues manager Steve Bruce, comedian Jasper Carrott, UB40's Astro and Grease star Hayley Evetts will join presenter Tom Ross on 1152 Capital Gold from 7am on Monday until 10am on Tuesday.
All those taking part have pledged money to the appeal while listeners can also do their bit by pledging cash on a special telephone hot-line in return for hearing their favourite song on the air.
Tom said: There hasnt been a single one of us who hasnt been deeply moved by the tragedy in South East Asia.
What really brought it home to me was that while people here were fighting in the sales for a bargain, people over there were fighting for a mouthful of fresh water.
I am now appealing to the public to ring up and pledge a donation in return for hearing their favourite tunes.
The radiothon gets under way with three hours of classic hits from 7am, followed by an hour dedicated to the Best of Brum with music from ELO, The Move, Wizzard, Applejacks, Duran Duran and Fine Young Cannibals.
Pop Idol finalist Hayley Evetts will join Tom from noon with Elvis hits.
At 2pm Villa secretary Steve Stride will choose his favourite Beatles classics while Blues chairman David Gold plays the best of rocknroll at 3pm.
Steve Bruce chooses his top Rod Stewart tracks between 5pm and 6pm and Astro will play reggae classics at 7pm.
The rest of the show will include a phone-in with Jasper Carrott.
