DURAN DURAN Announce MYLO & ORSON
As the Two Support Acts For December UK Tour
December 8, 2006/London: DURAN DURAN have today confirmed that MYLO will open for them on December 22nd, at Londons Earls Court, for the final show on their two year long world tour. This will be Mylos largest UK concert to date and his final live show in the country in support of his debut album. This gig rounds off an amazing year for Mylo. His first record 'Destroy Rock & Roll' has sold over 280,000 copies, he has had four top 20 singles and on his recent headline tour, he sold out Brixton Academy twice.
Hot new Los Angeles-based band ORSON (who were signed ten days ago in an international bidding war by Mercury Records) will support Duran Duran on their other UK and European shows, as follows: December 13th at the Sportpaleis, in Antwerp, Belgium, December 14th at Rockhal, in Luxembourg, December 16th at Glasgows SECC, December 17th at Birminghams NEC Arena, the 18th at Manchesters MEN Arena and Londons Earls Court on December 21st.
The five UK shows mark the end of Duran Durans Astronaut World Tour on which they have performed to 4 million fans around the globe in 23 different countries.
Commenting on Mylos appearance as their special guest on the last show, keyboardist Nick Rhodes said We are all great fans of Mylo and think he will bring an interesting element to our final night at Earls Court. His album Destroy Rock & Roll is one of my personal favourites with its rich and diverse musical montage. He has a unique style -fusing electronica, loops, samples and vocals through keyboards and computers to create an interesting signature sound. We are thrilled he and his band have agreed to perform with us.
Superstar DJ/artist Mylo (aka Miles MacInnes) first appeared on the UK music scene in 2004 with the independent release of his debut single, Destroy Rock & Roll. Less than two years on, he has released a hugely successful album (of the same name) through Breastfed/Sony BMG, which has spawned a string of Top 20 hits and earned this Isle of Skye native phenomenal critical praise. Mylo's new single Muscle Car is released on January 9th 2006.
Commenting on Orson, Duran Duran bass player John Taylor said; When we first heard about Orson they were an unsigned band with a great buzz and an incredible live show. Just days after we invited them to join the tour, they signed a deal with one of the majors and it seems that they are now really taking off. We are excited to have them on the tour as they are the real deal and have worked very hard as a band to get where they are today.
Orson (who take their name from the late, great Orson Welles and are already being tipped by music industry insiders as one of the top bands to watch out for in 2006) were recently hailed as The missing link between The Rolling Stones and The Scissor Sisters. Their first single No Tomorrow, taken from their debut album Bright Idea was the most downloaded iTunes Single Of The Week in Apples History. As Q editor Paul Rees stated The reason Orson are a band to make you sit up and take notice is simple: they write great songs.
Currently DURAN DURAN are in their London studio writing and recording new material for their second Epic Records album, which is due to be released next year and which already promises to surpass the tremendous success of ASTRONAUT.
