WE ASKED JASON TO TELL US WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO WORK WITH DURAN DURAN. THIS IS WHAT WE GOT BACK, IN HIS OWN WORDS:
"Being a fan of Duran Duran myself, it was a thrill to hook up with them at the studio in London. I grew up listening to Duran Duran and anyone that has read anythng on the internet about me or knows the mixes I have done, knows I am a huge fan of music that came from the 80's. That being said, Duran Duran is a timeless band, only 'exploding' in the 80's but still rocking through the 90's and now- big as ever today. Through the years, these guys have created timeless works of art that will continue to be loved and played for many years to come.
The guys were a pleasure to meet, genuinely nice and down to earth. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to meet Nick, who wasn't at the studio the time I was there. Its not all the time that you get a chance to hang out with- and work with, for that matter- one of music's legendary icon groups. I have been speaking with John, who is very cool and knows what he wants to hear (which is a great help...) Many times when I speak with artists who like my stuff, they will not give me any direction or vision they have just saying to me "do your thing". Its nice when a band or artist can give me some insight as to what they are thinking musically so I can hopefully give them what they are looking for.
Its also a huge thrill to know that the guys liked my version of "Sunrise" so much- that they play it live. I havent gotten a chance to see them in concert recently, but I must sometime soon. Right now Im working on "Virus" another track from their new album. Im excited to do production, but also love it the way it is. Hopefully, I will get to do more with them- its a pleasure and huge honor to work with them."
