DURAN DURAN: New Studio Album with All Five Original Members in Stores Today

New York Times Calls Astronaut "...as lurid and sensual as any of their best vintage work."

October 12, 2004-- Duran Duran celebrated the release of their first new studio album- Astronaut- in 21 years with all five original band members today with a live outdoor concert on Good Morning America (ABC). For the first time in the show's history, Good Morning America closed down 44th
Street for the band's performance of their first single "(Reach Up For The)Sunrise" (a classic Duran Duran anthem)  as well as their smash hits "Hungry Like the Wolf" and "Girls on Film."

Comprising twelve beautifully crafted songs that were written by the band in London and the South of France,Astronaut is a feel-good record that comes to life with boundless energy and emotion. Rich with the distinctive sound of LeBon's powerful vocals, Nick Rhodes' familiar keyboard landscapes and the reunited Taylor Trio rhythm and bass grooves, Astronaut is signature Duran Duran for the new millennium.

Recorded at London's Sphere Studios with Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Good Charlotte), Dallas Austin (Madonna, Christine Aguilera, TLC, Usher and Gwen Stefani) and Nile Rodgers (Madonna, David Bowie, Duran Duran) sharing
production responsibilities with the band, Astronaut marks Duran Duran's first release on Epic Records. Jeremy Wheatley (Massive Attack, Sugababes and The Dandy Warhol's) mixed the album at Olympic Studios in London.

Alongside the standard 12-track album, Epic is also releasing today a special limited edition delux package of Astronaut, featuring a 24-page color booklet and a bonus 45-minute DVD that includes candid, behind-the-scenes footage (shot by award-winning documentary filmmaker Gavin Elder) and five full-length live tracks from the band's sold-out concert run at Wembley Arena earlier this year.  Live songs included are: "(Reach Up For The) Sunrise", "Hungry Like The Wolf," "What Happens Tomorrow," "Union of the Snake" and "Wild Boys." Also featured on the DVD is the spectacular music video for "(Reach Up For The) Sunrise."

Fans can catch the band performing their hit single "Sunrise" on the following shows this month: Live with Regis and Kelly on October 13th, The Tonight Show on October 19th, Ellen DeGeneres Show on October 21st and Last Call with Carson Daly on October 21st.

Duran Duran are celebrating their album release tonight with a CD signing at Virgin Records in NYC's Times Square at 6pm followed by a west coast signing this Friday, October 15th at 7pm in Los Angeles at the Virgin Megastore Hollywood.
