DURAN DURAN ANNOUNCE GOLDFRAPP & SCISSOR SISTERS AS SPECIAL GUESTS FOR UK TOUR

Pop legends DURAN DURAN have announced GOLDFRAPP and SCISSOR SISTERS as special guests for their forthcoming UK arena tour which kicks off on Sunday April 11th at Nottingham Arena.

GOLDFRAPP, whose album “Black Cherry” has just achieved Gold Status in this country and who are also nominated for a BRIT at next month’s prestigious awards ceremony, will join DURAN DURAN for the first eight shows on the forthcoming tour - playing at Nottingham Arena (11th April), Wembley Arena (13th & 14th April), Glasgow SECC (15th April), Manchester Evening News Arena (April 17th), Birmingham NEC (18th& 19th April), Manchester Evening News Arena (21st April) and Newcastle Arena (22nd April).

Critically acclaimed New York electro disco outfit SCISSOR SISTERS, whose superb reworking of PINK FLOYD’S “Comfortably Numb” is already at #10 in the UK charts, will finish off the tour playing Wembley Arena (April 24th), Birmingham’s NEC Arena (25th April), Sheffield Arena (27th April), Cardiff Arena (28th April) and Wembley Arena (30th April).

Duran Duran’s Nick Rhodes said; “Goldfrapp make beautiful, elegant music. Their albums have given all of us in the band a great deal of pleasure and so we are thrilled to be bringing them to our audience – introducing them to anyone who has not yet been converted and treating those who are already familiar with the band to some extraordinary music.”

Lead singer Simon Le Bon added “It’s a dream bill for us, Goldfrapp are sublime and we can’t wait to see the Scissor Sisters perform on stage. When we first started the band, the New York avant garde scene provided us with much inspiration. Now the Scissor Sisters are out there on the edge, bringing some personality back into music. Both of these bands, are the real deal and, one thing’s for sure, we know our audience like the real thing.”

In other news, DURAN DURAN are just returning from America where they performed at the highly prestigious NFL Tailgate Party at the Super Bowl XXXVIII in Houston, Texas on Sunday 1st February. One song from this show was included in the CBS telecast that was seen by more than a billion people around the world. The band’s next stop will be the BRIT Awards ceremony on February 17th where they will receive the “Outstanding Contribution To Music Award” and perform alongside 50 CENT, THE DARKNESS, DIDO, MUSE, BLACK EYED PEAS, MISSY ELLIOT, ALICIA KEYS & GWEN STEFANI.
