New York, NY-- The original lineup of Duran Duran - Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, Andy Taylor and Roger Taylor - will perform live in New York City for the first time in 18 years on Wednesday August 27th, at "The Ritz" at Webster Hall presented by Juicy Couture for Men. Tipped as the band's only New York concert scheduled for this year, this special event will see the band returning to the very first place they ever played on the East Coat, at the start of their career. Tickets are $45 and will go on sale Thursday, August 21st through Ticketmaster only. "The Ritz" at Webster Hall is located at 125 East 11th Street and Third Ave. Tel: 212.353.1600. Doors open at 7:00pm, show starts at 8pm.

Duran Duran recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of the formation of the band with an extraordinary performance at The Roxy in LA, revisiting the first West Coast venue they ever played.

From the moment they landed at LAX (fresh from a run of sold out Japanese arena shows), the pandemonium that Duran Duran stirred in the 80's was reborn. Hoards of people camped outside The Roxy for the weekend to buy tickets, while those unable to get in crowded the streets around the venue on July 15th for a glimpse of the band and their celebrity fans, who included Nick Cage, Gavin Rossdale, Gwen Stefani and the other members of No Doubt, Christina Applegate, Beck, Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray, Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, Donovan Leitch, Kirsty Hume, Michael des Barres, Joy Bryant, and Junior Gonzalez of the San Diego Chargers.

The following night, the band played to a capacity crowd (8,000) at The Pacific Amphitheater in Orange County, before relocating to Las Vegas for two sold out shows at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino - July17th and 19th - where tickets sold out in 6 minutes. With an after-show party thrown for the band by hotel owner Peter Morton, celebrity guests at the concert included Adrien Brody, Drea De Matteo, Jared Leto, Jimmy Fallon, Macy Gray, Orlando Jones, Rosario Dawson, Sarah Wynter and Tom Green.

The Las Vegas Sun said of the band's July 17th show "The encore ...provided a fantastic finish to a lively two-hour show, leaving a rabid crowd ... satiated and, in many cases, visibly exhausted. ... the five men [of Duran Duran] appeared elated to be sharing the stage again." (7/18/03)

In other Duran Duran news, on August 28th Duran Duran will present an award at the 2003 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS; while keyboardist, Nick Rhodes continues to receive critical acclaim for his production work on the new Dandy Warhols CD "Welcome to the Monkey House", on which Rolling Stone magazine said he does an "admirable job of making the Dandies bounce instead of drone" (Rolling Stone). Simon Le Bon also sings on the record.

To commemorate the reunion of the original members of Duran Duran, Capitol Records released a 13-CD box set on June 10th. Each disc contains a hit song and its original B side tracks and all of the CD sleeves feature the original single artwork. Capitol Records also released re-mastered re-issues of early albums "Duran Duran" and "Seven and the Ragged Tiger" on August 5th and are slated to put out a "Greatest Hits" DVD encompassing all of the band's groundbreaking early videos, interviews and more. The latter will hit stores this fall.

Duran Duran is currently working on a new album, slated for a 2004 release.
