DURAN DURAN STEAL Q AWARDS & SCOOP 2ND LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD!

Pop legends DURAN DURAN scooped their 2nd "LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD" this year at the prestigious Q AWARDS ceremony at the Park Lane Hotel in London (2nd October)and were honoured with a standing ovation.

The coveted award was the second for the band within weeks of the MTV Video Music Awards in New York, where they were also honoured with a "Lifetime Achievement" award in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the music industry. The five original members of SIMON LE BON, NICK RHODES, JOHN TAYLOR, ROGER TAYLOR and ANDY TAYLOR were presented with their "Q" award by legendary producer and former CHIC front man NILE RODGERS. Rodgers, a long time collaborator and friend of DURAN DURAN paid tribute to the band for their ‘unique’ contribution to the music industry and British pop music over the last twenty five years.

Whilst Simon, Nick, John, Roger and Andy were delighted to have received their award, the band also took a moment to reflect and dedicate the "Lifetime Achievement" award in memory of their dear friend and fellow artist, the late ROBERT PALMER who died last week. Led by Andy Taylor who along with fellow Duranie John Taylor formed the POWERSTATION with Palmer said; "We would like to dedicate this award in memory of a special and dear friend of ours who cant be here tonight. This is for Robert Palmer."

DURAN DURAN celebrated alongside ROBBIE WILLIAMS who won "Best Live Act", RADIOHEAD picked up the prestigious "Best Act In The World", CHRISTINA AGUILERA was presented with an award for "Best Single", while veterans THE CURE were honoured with the "Inspiration Award" and BLUR collected "Best Album."
